Thailand: fake job offers, how to stay safe
Read this before you accept a job offer in Thailand.
Important Job offers in Thailand shared on WhatsApp, Telegram, TikTok or Facebook, often for customer service, crypto or IT roles, are a major route into scam compounds in Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos. People are held there and forced to commit online fraud. Victims are usually told the job is in Bangkok, then moved across the border. Africans are now among the largest groups trapped.
How to stay safe
- A real job in Thailand needs a work permit and a Non-B visa arranged before you travel
- Never travel on a tourist visa for a job
- If the "employer" pays your flight and asks you to keep it secret, stop
- Check any offer with your embassy or the IOM before you go
