Privacy policy
PathAbroad collects as little as it can. You don't need an account to use it. This page explains what is collected, why, and your rights.
Who is responsible
PathAbroad is operated by Wilberforce K. Osei ("we"). For any privacy question or request, email hello@pathabroad.africa.
What we collect and why
- Newsletter sign-ups. Your email address, so we can send you the weekly update every Monday. The sign-up form is handled by Netlify (our hosting provider), your address is kept in our database (Supabase), and the emails are sent through Resend, our email delivery provider. We keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Joining is always optional: the Application Assistant and the PDF download offer it as an unticked box.
- Application Assistant. Your email address, and the nationality, field and level you choose, when you first use the AI tools. We use this to understand who the tools help and to tell you about important changes. Stored with Netlify until you ask us to delete it. Your profile and drafts stay in your own browser; when you run a tool, they are sent to our AI provider to write the draft and are not stored by us.
- "What fits me?" updates. If you ask for weekly matches, your email and the answers you chose, so we can send relevant opportunities. Stored with Netlify until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- PDF downloads. Your email address when you download the PDF list of opportunities, so we know who uses it. Stored with Netlify until you ask us to delete it. You only join the Monday update if you tick the box.
- Contact and report forms. Your name, email and message, so we can reply. Stored with Netlify and deleted after 12 months.
- AI drafting. When you use an Application Assistant tool, the details in your profile and the opportunity are sent to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI model, to write your draft. We don't keep a copy of your profile or of the drafts. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
- Human reviews. If you choose "Get a Human Review", your draft CV or cover letter is sent to us on WhatsApp so we can review it with you. We use it only to help with your application, and you can ask us to delete the conversation at any time.
- Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are used, on what kind of device, and from which country. It uses cookies and processes your IP address. We don't use it for advertising.
- Abuse protection. To stop misuse of the Application Assistant, we store a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for up to 24 hours. It can't be turned back into your IP address.
- Saved items, filters and dismissed notices. Opportunities you save, the nationality you choose, and the important-update notices you close are stored only in your own browser. Your nationality is used to filter listings and is not linked to you.
Who processes your data
Netlify (hosting and forms), Supabase (our database), Resend (sending our emails), Anthropic (Application Assistant), and Google (analytics and fonts). These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. We don't sell your data or share it with anyone else.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to stop sending you emails. Email hello@pathabroad.africa and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana or, if you live in the EU or UK, to your local data protection authority.
Children
PathAbroad is intended for people aged 18 and over.
